Reasons for Optimism Regarding the Museum’s Future

Last June the Wincanton & District Museum  and History Society issued a press release to the effect that as the society could not agree a new lease with the owners, The Society of Friends (Quakers), on number 32 High Street, Wincanton, the museum would close down at the end of September 09.
We are pleased to announce that the committee has since held talks with the Society of Friends and we are fairly optimistic that the society can come to some agreement with them, but before a lease can be drawn up and agreed to, planning permission and building regulations needs to be obtained from the South Somerset Distirct Council.
It gives us great pleasure to announce that the Wincanton & Distirct Museum will open its doors to the public on Saturday 3rd April.   From then onwards it will be open from 10am – 12.30pm on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
Hope to see you there.
STEWARDS – STEWARDS – STEWARDS !

We are still looking for additional Stewards to welcome visitors to the museum.  Training will be given.  If you would like to volunteer I would be pleased to hear from you.
