My Grandfather died at the age of 60 in Wincanton hospital in 1940. I cannot find any history about the hospital. I am writing a book about my fathers family and it would be useful to have some more information.
My Father was only 6 when his father died and it was only in recent years that we have found where Granddad was buried. I know he lived in North Street next to the auction house (house replaced now by modern version but flagstone still outside) but we know little else about him. a little history on the hospital where he died would be great to help complete a picture

My enquiry is directed towards the history society. My interest is centered in genealogy and particularly Silton Mere where my ancestors lived their lives.
I have a streetmap of BA9 9RA covering SUTOR FARM which is situated a short distance north of the river Cale. I believe that this farm or land belonged to one of my ancestors(despite the var spelling) of the 18c and I would like to know
whether your society has records or point me in the right direction.
