87 children and teachers visit Museum

Curator John Atkins laid on a disply of artefacts connected with the two world wars for the pupils of Wincanton Primary School who came with their teachers to the Museum before their half-term holiday.  Being able to see and touch helmets, uniforms, a gas mask and see pictures of the devastation caused by the bomb that hit the bank during the Second World War and handle photos of men who served in the First World War made things real and was much appreciated by the pupils and their teachers.  As John said, “This is why we are here.”
